D2 Travels to Chesapeake, Looking for Redemption
On Saturday, the Furies are traveling to Ellicott City for D2’s first face-off with Chesapeake in over a year. The Furies last played Chesapeake in 2017, with a close match that ended in a narrow 21-19 Chesapeake victory.
After last weekend’s loss to Norfolk, the Furies are looking to regroup and put some points on the board.
Some notable changes to this week’s lineup:
Lock Carly Gniewek is back in the starting tight five (returning from a broken wrist hiatus) – joining Jen “Putty” Putnam, Carmen Cordova, Jennifer “Wiggles” Konish, and Alex Hart. Utility player Amy O’Sullivan is switching things up this week and moving from wing to flanker. D2 captain Xa Hopkins and rookie Emma Nelson (who won last week’s Tonka Truck Award for hitting Norfolk hard enough to make everyone go “damnnnnnnnnnnnn”) will round out the pack.
With Caitlin Gibney sidelined due to a concussion, rookie Cameron Clark will step into the shoes of scrumhalf. Liz Linstrom will fill in for Lucy Albin, directing the backs at flyhalf, and last week’s 14 and 15 are trading places, with Katie “Auchbach” Auchenbach starting at wing and Katie Ursitti holding down the fort at fullback.
