Monk Vaughn Makes for Solid Start to 7s Season for the Furies

IMG_3274This past Saturday, the Furies sent two sides to the annual Monk Vaughn 7s Tournament in Richmond, VA. No longer a nationals qualifier, this year the tournament offered teams an opportunity to mix competition with fun and development. The Furies premier side split their wins, going 2-2 for the weekend, victorious against both NOVA sides and losing one to Scion, ultimately falling to NOVA II in the semi-finals, despite beating them earlier in the day.

The social side saw a successful day going 3-1 in the tournament with two wins against Rappahannock, and one win and one loss to NOVA III. The social bracket was ultimately decided upon by point differential and NOVA III beat out the Furies by one try, in what was a frustrating finish to an impressive showing from the Furies social side throughout the day.

It was clear on both sides that the Furies will have great chemistry on the field this summer and we couldn’t be more excited for the first MAC Qualifier this upcoming Saturday in Wilmington, DE.

Congratulations to our Men of the Match, Gussie Maguire for the premier side and Brooke Branson for the social side!
