Furies Place 6th in the Nation at Women’s Club 7s National Championships

After an amazing day of going undefeated in their pool play in the first day of the 2012 Emirates Airlines USA Rugby Women’s Club 7s Championships, the DC Furies ended the tournament in 6th place.

The Furies executed noted team work on Saturday earning them the top seed in their pool going into Day 2. The first game of Sunday morning was against local rivals, NOVA I. It was very evenly matched with much back and forth through out game. A line break late in the first half, gave NOVA the only score of the game leaving the Furies to contend for the Shield. The next opponent the Furies faced was Seattle’s Emerald City Mudhens. The Furies came out of the gate strong and executed their game plan for a 24-5 victory. The final game of the day pitted the Furies against reigning National Champions, Berkeley All Blues in the Plate Final. The tough game ended in a final score of 24-10, All Blues.

  • DC Furies 29, Berkeley All Blues II 5
  • DC Furies 31, Middlesex Falcons 0
  • DC Furies 17, San Diego Surfers 7

Day 2:

  • DC Furies 0, NOVA 7 (Cup Quarter Final)
  • DC Furies 24, Emerald City Mudhens 5 (Shield Semifinal)
  • DC Furies 10, Berkeley All Blues 24 (Plate Final)
