Beltway Battle Against Cancer

Fast approaching is this Saturday and our Beltway Battle Against Cancer!! For those who are not already aware, this is an annual fundraiser to fight cancer that’s put on jointly by NOVA, the Maryland Stingers, and our fine selves the Furies. Funds raised this year will be going to the Lombardi Cancer Center at Georgetown.

In addition to being a chance to raise money for a great cause, this is also a nice close-to-home match at Gravelly Point in Arlington and an opportunity to support the MD-DC-VA women’s rugby community. There will be burgers, hot dogs, desserts, and beverages at the pitch throughout the day. Food with be $5.00 to go to the Lombardi Cancer Center.

With three local teams attending, we invite all our Furies Fans out to make a fantastic day of rugby!

Time: First kick off is at 10:00am

Schedule
10am-11: NOVA v Furies
11-12pm: Furies v Maryland
12pm-1: NOVA v Furies
1-2: Maryland v NOVA

The fundraising, and FUN, doesn’t stop there! The Furies will be getting to know the new players better throughout an afternoon of socialing at Hamilton’s and there will be an evening social with all three teams at the Black Rooster, beginning at 8:00 pm.  Festivities include a raffle and $10 wristbands will be sold for all-you-can-drink beer from the keg.  The players and fans from all three teams are encouraged to come out for a night of fun to support the fight against cancer as a cohesive rugby community.
